NUSTAR Skydeck Cebu: 27th-Floor Glass Walkway with CCLEX and Mactan Channel Views

Cebu’s tourism industry has never relied on scenery alone. The province has built its reputation on a calibrated mix of coastal landscapes, elevated terrain, cuisine, and professional hospitality. In that competitive environment, any new attraction must do more than decorate the skyline. It must redefine it.

That is precisely the role now assumed by the Skydeck at NUSTAR Resort and Casino.

Reframing the Cebu Skyline

Positioned on the 27th floor of the NUSTAR Hotel and rising over 100 meters above sea level, the Skydeck introduces a structural and experiential shift in how the Queen City of the South is viewed. It delivers a sweeping 180 degree panorama that captures the Mactan Channel and the span of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway, widely recognized as the country’s longest sea-crossing bridge.

The defining architectural feature is a semi-circular, open-air glass walkway. Rather than enclosing visitors within a conventional viewing platform, the design extends them outward into space. The result is controlled exposure. Guests are not simply looking at the city. They are suspended above it, with no visual barriers interrupting the horizon.

This distinction matters. Observation decks traditionally function as endpoints. The Skydeck functions as a transition, from interior to exterior, from grounded to elevated perspective.

Experience by Design

The project was not conceived as a single reveal but as a layered progression. According to Apollo Noel Santos, Senior Public Relations Manager of NUSTAR, the guest journey begins at the Skydeck Lobby, where projected imagery and environmental design draw inspiration from the sky and sea. The movement from lobby to rooftop is deliberately orchestrated to heighten anticipation.

The concept leans on Surrealism, not as an abstract art reference, but as an experiential framework. Visual cues and digital elements create an atmosphere where spatial boundaries blur. By the time visitors step onto the glass walkway, the psychological shift has already occurred. The transition mirrors a gradual ascent into an altered vantage point, making the final reveal more impactful.

Operational discipline supports the experience. Only ten guests are admitted to the walkway every fifteen minutes. This measured pacing preserves safety while preventing congestion. More importantly, it ensures that each visitor can engage with the view without distraction. In a city defined by motion and commerce, the Skydeck offers a controlled pause.

Strategic Implications for Cebu Tourism

The launch of the Skydeck signals more than architectural ambition. It positions NUSTAR as a central node in Cebu’s tourism infrastructure. By introducing a first-of-its-kind attraction in the region, the resort strengthens its claim as a venue not only for leisure but also for events and entertainment.

In competitive destination marketing, differentiation is decisive. Beaches and mountain vistas are shared assets across the Philippines. A glass walkway suspended above a major urban channel is not. By anchoring such an experience within its property, NUSTAR reinforces Cebu’s capacity to compete on both natural and engineered spectacle.

The move aligns with broader efforts to promote Cebu as a premier destination for domestic and international travelers. Iconic infrastructure and curated guest experiences are no longer optional in global tourism markets. They are expected.

Access and Admission

Admission to the NUSTAR Skydeck is priced at PHP 500 net per person. The ticket includes a complimentary ice cream, marking the completion of the elevated journey.

Visitors may secure tickets online through e-ticket.nustar.ph or purchase them at the dedicated ticket booth located on the ground floor of the NUSTAR Hotel.

Cebu has long offered sea-level beauty. With the Skydeck, it now commands the view from above.
