SEC Releases Updated List of Registered Online Lending Platforms to Protect Borrowers

 

MANILA, Philippines — The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has released its latest comprehensive list of recorded Online Lending Platforms (OLPs) as of January 26, 2026. This update is part of the commission’s ongoing effort to regulate the rapidly growing digital lending industry and protect Filipino borrowers from predatory and unauthorized lenders.

The list, which identifies financing and lending companies that have complied with SEC Memorandum Circular No. 19, series of 2019, serves as a critical directory for consumers. This circular requires all lending and financing firms to report their online platforms and register them as business names to ensure transparency and accountability.

The commission also highlighted that the moratorium on new online lending platforms, established under SEC Memorandum Circular No. 10, series of 2021, remains in effect. This means that only the platforms recorded by the SEC as of the current cutoff are legally authorized to operate and offer credit services through digital channels.

"The registration and disclosure requirements allow for a closer monitoring of lending and financing activities online and provide additional protection for borrowers from predatory lending," the SEC previously noted.

Borrowers are strongly advised to check the official SEC list before engaging with any mobile lending app or website. Legitimate lenders are required to conspicuously display their Corporate Name, SEC Registration Number, and Certificate of Authority (CA) number on their platforms and advertisements.
