Roblox is overhauling how creators receive income from the
platform as it seeks to strengthen its creator economy, expand its audience and
reduce friction around payments.
The company announced the Roblox Wallet during its annual
developer conference in San Jose, California. The new financial account is
designed to give eligible creators more direct access to revenue generated from
their games, replacing a payment process that required manual conversion of
Robux into US dollars and involved lengthy waiting periods.
Under the new system, creators will be able to receive their
earnings automatically on each business day and transfer the funds to a bank
account. The service is scheduled to launch in December for adult creators in
the United States before expanding to international markets in 2027.
Roblox is working with payments company Airwallex to manage
the wallet. Company executives emphasized that the service is a financial
account rather than a traditional bank account, and Roblox does not intend to
operate as a bank.
The move comes as the gaming platform attempts to make its
creator ecosystem more attractive, particularly to adult developers who

during the summer.

The company says it has distributed more than $5 billion to
creators since 2013, including approximately $1.7 billion during the past year.
However, earnings remain uneven across the creator community. Roblox reports
that the median annual income among roughly 42,000 paid creators is about
$1,500.
The new wallet is intended to make that income more
accessible and predictable. Roblox also plans to extend wallet access to
teenagers in 2027 with parental approval. A related payment card is expected to
be available to wallet holders.
The company is also looking to broaden the ways its games
reach players. By the end of 2026, users are expected to gain the ability to
open Roblox games directly through Google Chrome using a shared link,
eliminating the need to first launch the Roblox application.
Creators will eventually be able to distribute their games
as standalone applications across mobile devices, computers and consoles.
Roblox is also planning an offline mode.
These changes represent a significant shift from Roblox's traditional model, where the platform and its
