Paulo Avelino Announces Temporary Showbiz Break as GTA 6 and Path of Exile 2 Take Priority

Actor Paulo Avelino is preparing to step away from the entertainment industry for several months, although his reason for doing so is far removed from the usual demands of show business.

In a playful announcement shared across his social media accounts, Avelino revealed that he intends to stop accepting movies, teleseryes, and endorsement projects beginning October 31. He framed the decision as the result of personal reflection and discussions at home, while making it clear that his planned hiatus has another major priority: video games.

The actor specifically highlighted two highly anticipated titles that are scheduled for release later this year. Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to arrive on November 19, followed by Path of Exile 2 on December 11.

Avelino appeared particularly invested in the upcoming action role-playing game, revealing that he had already watched an extended preview and was especially intrigued by the addition of swords. His reaction became the centerpiece of the humorous announcement, suggesting that he intends to devote considerable time to the game once it becomes available.

Rather than treating the announcement as a conventional career break, Avelino turned it into a tongue-in-cheek message for colleagues, fans, and even potential legal adversaries. He jokingly suggested that anyone planning to pursue legal action against him should wait until his return, when he expects to have completed GTA 6 and developed a formidable Path of Exile 2 character.

The gaming hiatus is expected to last until around March next year. While Avelino plans to temporarily withdraw from most professional commitments, he still has one major project remaining on his 2026 schedule.

He is set to appear alongside Kim Chiu in Kopino, a cross-cultural drama series that marks their fifth collaboration as a screen pairing. The project will serve as one of Avelino's final major entertainment commitments before his planned break.

For now, Avelino's announcement offers fans an unusual glimpse into his personal interests beyond acting. Instead of disappearing from the spotlight entirely, the actor appears ready to trade film sets and television productions for virtual worlds, character builds, and a serious gaming marathon.
