DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur — The streets of Digos City
are set to become one giant dining area as the city celebrates its 26th Araw
ng Digos with the much-anticipated Lechonan sa Kadalanan on
September 8, 2026.
The annual celebration will bring families, friends,
neighbors, visitors and communities together for a day of food, fellowship and
local tradition.
The Lechonan sa Kadalanan will take place along Magsaysay
Street toward Lapu-Lapu Street, where residents and visitors can gather for
a communal feast featuring lechon and other local dishes.
The event is among the signature activities associated with
Araw ng Digos. The Provincial Government of Davao del Sur lists both Araw ng
Digos and Lechonan sa Kadalanan on September 8, alongside Pista
Kadig'garan.
A tradition built around community
More than a food celebration, Lechonan sa Kadalanan reflects
the strong community spirit of Digos. The streets become gathering places where
residents share food, reconnect with friends and relatives, and welcome
visitors to experience a distinctly Digoseño celebration.
Historical accounts of Araw ng Digos have described Lechonan
sa Kadalanan as one of the festival's major attractions, with the tradition
drawing large crowds and featuring hundreds of lechon during previous
celebrations.
The city's annual festivities have also traditionally
combined cultural, civic, sports and entertainment activities. Previous
festival programs have included Taboan sa Dakbayan, cultural and sports
activities, a civic parade, Lechonan sa Kadalanan, Hudyaka sa Kadalanan and
Pista Kadig'garan.

Streets become the center of celebration
For this year's Lechonan sa Kadalanan, residents and
visitors are encouraged to make their way to the designated stretch from Magsaysay
Street to Lapu-Lapu Street on September 8.
The celebration is expected to turn the area into a lively
community dining space, with the aroma of roasted lechon and other food filling
the streets as Digoseños come together to mark another year in the city's
history.
The event also highlights how local traditions can serve as
a bridge between generations, preserving a shared celebration while continuing
to welcome new residents and visitors.
Digos City has long identified September 8 as its annual
city anniversary, with Lechonan sa Kadalanan and Pista Kadig'garan recognized
among the city's major festival events.
As the city prepares for its 26th Araw ng Digos, residents
and visitors can look forward to a celebration centered on food, culture,
friendship and civic pride.
