Viva One is bringing the popular South Korean romantic drama
Fight for My Way to Filipino audiences, with a local adaptation starring
David Licauco, Ashtine Olviga, Aubrey Caraan, and McCoy De Leon. The series is
scheduled to premiere exclusively on the streaming platform on November 20.
The Philippine version will feature the four actors as the
Crazy Fantastic Four, a group of longtime friends navigating personal
challenges, romantic relationships, and their ambitions. The project also marks
the first onscreen pairing of Licauco and Olviga.
During the series' press conference and cast reveal, Licauco
acknowledged the pressure of portraying a character originally played by South
Korean actor Park Seo-joon. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity while
recognizing the expectations associated with the original performance.
The actor plans to study Park's portrayal while developing
his own interpretation of the character, bringing a distinct approach to the
Filipino adaptation.
Meanwhile, Olviga revealed that she and Licauco initially
struggled with some awkwardness during their first interactions. Both actors
are naturally shy, she explained, but she looks forward to building a stronger
connection with her onscreen partner as production progresses.
The other half of the central quartet, Caraan and De Leon,
will portray a couple in the series. Caraan said their previous collaboration
has made working together more comfortable, as the upcoming production marks
their second project together.
De Leon, meanwhile, highlighted the story's combination of
friendship, romance, and career struggles as one of its main attractions. He
described the narrative as lighthearted yet meaningful, with an emotional core
that extends beyond its romantic storyline.
Directed by Crisanto B. Aquino, the Philippine adaptation
draws inspiration from the 2017 South Korean series, which originally starred
Park Seo-joon, Kim Ji-won, Ahn Jae-hong, and Song Ha-yoon.
The original drama follows four close friends confronting
the realities of adulthood as they pursue their respective ambitions. Their
experiences explore the difficulties of building careers, maintaining
relationships, and holding on to personal dreams despite setbacks.
The Filipino adaptation aims to bring this familiar
coming-of-age story to a local audience, with a new cast and interpretation of
the characters.
Fight for My Way will premiere on November 20, exclusively on Viva One.
