Singer Moira Dela Torre has addressed the controversy that
linked her to the 2025 breakup of actor Sam Milby and Miss Universe 2018
Catriona Gray, firmly rejecting allegations that she had a romantic involvement
with Milby.
Dela Torre and Milby had maintained a close friendship
before the controversy, with the singer affectionately calling him Kuya Sam. In
a recent interview with PEP.ph, Dela Torre revealed that she still misses the
friendship they once shared.
The singer also acknowledged that the speculation
surrounding her involvement had been upsetting. She said the allegations were
untrue and questioned why she was connected to the breakup in the first place,
particularly because of her sibling-like relationship with Milby.
Dela Torre made it clear that she was not a third party in
the former couple's relationship. She also rejected the broader suggestion that
another person was responsible for the end of Milby and Gray's relationship.
While Dela Torre said she knows what transpired between the
two, she has deliberately kept those details private. According to her, the
circumstances of their breakup are not hers to disclose, and she intends to
respect and protect both Milby and Gray.
Her comments also revealed that the controversy affected her
personally beyond the public accusations. Dela Torre admitted that she was hurt
when Milby previously said in an interview that they were no longer friends.
The episode highlights how speculation surrounding celebrity relationships can extend beyond the people directly involved. For Dela Torre, the issue was not only about denying a rumor but also about the loss of a friendship she had regarded as a family-like bond.
