GCash IPO Secures P36.5 Billion Cornerstone Commitments Ahead of Listing

GCash IPO Draws P36.5 Billion in Cornerstone Investor Commitments

Mynt Inc., the parent company of GCash, has secured commitments worth approximately P36.5 billion from major local and international investors ahead of its planned initial public offering, positioning the fintech company for one of the most significant market debuts in the Philippines.

The commitments represent about 40 percent of Mynt’s targeted P92.3 billion IPO proceeds. If the overallotment option is exercised, cornerstone investors could account for as much as 59.8 percent of the shares being offered in the transaction.

The scale of the commitments underscores the level of institutional participation surrounding the planned listing. Among the investors is BlackRock Inc., the New York Stock Exchange-listed global investment firm that manages a portfolio valued at $15.3 trillion and holds investments in major technology companies including Apple, Microsoft and Nvidia.

Other international participants include Los Angeles-based Capital Research and Management Co. and the International Finance Corp., the private sector investment arm of the World Bank.

Major Philippine financial institutions are also participating through their investment and trust divisions. These include BPI Asset Management and Trust Co., China Bank Capital Corp., and the Trust Banking Group of Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co.

Cornerstone Price Set Below Indicative IPO Range

According to Mynt’s preliminary red herring prospectus, the cornerstone investors have agreed to acquire shares at a price of up to P6.60 each.

That figure is below the company’s indicative IPO price range of P7 to P10 per share, giving the cornerstone commitments a defined pricing structure ahead of the broader public offering.

The next major milestone will come on Oct. 1, when Mynt is scheduled to determine the final offer price. The IPO offer period is set for Oct. 6 to 12, followed by the planned listing of Mynt shares on the main board of the Philippine Stock Exchange on Oct. 20.

Mynt Targets Record P92.3 Billion IPO

Mynt is seeking to raise as much as P92.3 billion through the offering. If achieved, the transaction would become the largest IPO in Philippine history.

For the company, the substantial institutional commitments provide an important source of funding even before shares are offered to the wider investing public. In practical terms, cornerstone investors serve as an early foundation for a major stock offering, establishing substantial demand before the IPO reaches the broader market.

Mynt president and CEO Martha Sazon said the participation of major global and domestic investors demonstrates confidence in GCash and its position within the Philippine financial technology sector.

Sazon also pointed to the company’s profitability and growth record, as well as the potential for further expansion in the financial services market, as factors reflected in the investor commitments.

The planned IPO represents a major corporate milestone for GCash, which has expanded beyond its original role as a digital wallet into a broader financial services platform. The scale of the proposed offering reflects the growing financial footprint of digital platforms in the Philippine market.
