Manila City Employees Set to Receive Third Salary
Increase Tranche in September
Thousands of permanent employees of the Manila city
government are set to receive another salary adjustment beginning September 1,
with up to 9,364 workers covered by the latest tranche.
Mayor Isko Moreno announced that the city has earmarked
approximately ₱99.08 million for the increase, which will raise employee
salaries by at least four percent. The allocation comes as the local government
continues to manage its finances while maintaining funding for essential
programs and services.
Moreno said the adjustment is intended to recognize the work
of city government personnel and their role in carrying out Manila’s various
programs, projects, and public services. The salary increase serves as a
financial acknowledgment of employees whose day-to-day responsibilities
directly support the delivery of government services to residents.
City officials and employees have also been instructed to
begin preparing and processing the necessary documents ahead of the September
implementation. This early administrative work is expected to help facilitate
the release of the approved adjustments once the required government procedures
are completed.
The proposed appropriation will next be submitted to the
Manila City Council for approval. Its passage will be a key step before the
salary adjustments can formally proceed.
The third tranche represents another stage in the city’s ongoing salary adjustment program. For covered employees, the increase is expected to provide additional financial support while reinforcing the city government’s effort to recognize the workforce behind its public operations.
