PCSO Increases PhilHealth Funding With Additional P1.6 Billion, Total Contributions Near P14 Billion Since 2022

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has reinforced its financial commitment to the country's public healthcare system after approving an additional P1.6 billion allocation for the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth). The latest funding raises the agency's total contribution for 2026 to P3.85 billion, underscoring its continuing role in expanding access to healthcare for millions of Filipinos.

By the close of 2026, PCSO's cumulative remittances to PhilHealth are projected to reach P13.98 billion. The sustained funding reflects the agency's obligation under the Universal Health Care Act, which requires 40 percent of its net charity fund to be directed toward strengthening PhilHealth's insurance coverage and expanding the range of medical benefits available to members.

Healthcare financing relies on consistent investments to remain effective. Much like reinforcing the foundation of a building before adding new floors, regular contributions ensure that PhilHealth can continue supporting hospitalization, medical procedures, and other essential health services without compromising long-term sustainability.

According to government records, PCSO has already transferred P11.47 billion to PhilHealth through the Bureau of the Treasury from 2022 through the first half of 2026. The funding history illustrates a steady stream of support, beginning with P2.71 billion in 2022, followed by P2 billion in 2023, P2.13 billion in 2024, P2.87 billion in 2025, and P1.94 billion during the first six months of 2026.

An additional P2.51 billion is expected to be remitted during the second half of the year. Once completed, the projected transfers will increase the cumulative total to P13.98 billion, marking another milestone in the government's effort to strengthen the country's universal healthcare program.

PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles emphasized that the significance of these allocations extends beyond financial statistics. Every remittance helps ensure that Filipino families have access to financial assistance when confronted with hospitalization, medical emergencies, or critical treatment, making healthcare more accessible to those who depend on PhilHealth benefits.
