Disney+ Launches Production on Live-Action Adaptation of
Global Webtoon Sensation A Man's Man
Disney+ has officially commenced production on the
live-action adaptation of A Man's Man, transforming one of the world's
most successful webtoons into a high-profile Korean drama. With nearly 500
million global views, the series has built a massive following through its
compelling blend of corporate ambition, personal redemption, and second
chances.
At the center of the story is Han Yuh-yeon, a brilliant but
uncompromising executive whose relentless pursuit of success propels him to
become the youngest chief executive officer of one of South Korea's largest
conglomerates. His remarkable ascent, however, comes at an enormous personal
cost. By the time he reaches the pinnacle of corporate power, he has lost
meaningful relationships and is left confronting a life defined more by
achievement than fulfillment.
The narrative takes a dramatic turn when Yuh-yeon
unexpectedly awakens two decades in the past, returning to his first days as a
newly hired employee while retaining every memory of his future. Unlike a
typical time-travel story driven by fantasy alone, the series explores how
experience can become the ultimate competitive advantage. Knowing where his
previous decisions led, he is given a rare opportunity to reshape his career,
repair damaged relationships, and pursue success without repeating the mistakes
that once defined him.
Leading the production is acclaimed actor Park Jeong-min,
whose recent Best Actor victory at the Baeksang Arts Awards for the film The
Ugly further cements his reputation as one of South Korea's most respected
performers. Known for standout roles in Deliver Us From Evil and Harbin,
Park takes on the demanding role of Han Yuh-yeon, a character who must balance
ruthless business instincts with emotional growth.
The series will be directed by Kim Hee-won, who previously
collaborated with Park on Light Shop. Kim brings experience both behind
and in front of the camera, adding another layer of creative depth to the
adaptation.
Supporting the production is an accomplished ensemble cast
that includes Bae Seong-woo, Kim Ji-hyun, and Moon Sang-hoon, the latter
recognized for appearances in D.P. and Extraordinary Attorney Woo.
Seolhyun and popular entertainer Lee Kwang-soo will also make special guest
appearances, adding further star power to an already impressive lineup. Lee's
recent acting projects include The Manipulated, The Divorce Insurance,
and Karma.
With production now underway, Disney+ is betting on a story
that resonates far beyond the corporate world. At its core, A Man's Man
is not simply about climbing the executive ladder. It is an examination of
whether genuine success can exist without personal connection and whether a
second opportunity can redefine both ambition and identity. The combination of
a globally successful source material, an award-winning lead actor, and an
experienced creative team positions the series as one of Disney+'s most
anticipated Korean originals.
