Basketball prospect Andy Gemao continues to elevate his
profile on the international stage after securing a place at adidas Eurocamp
2026, one of the sport's premier development events for emerging talent.
The 6-foot-1 Filipino guard represented the Philippines
during the prestigious camp held from June 5 to 7 in Treviso, Italy, where more
than 70 elite young athletes gathered to showcase their abilities before an
audience that included NBA and EuroLeague scouts, coaches, executives, media
representatives, and basketball enthusiasts. For many participants, Eurocamp
serves as a gateway to professional opportunities, much like a global audition
where every performance can influence future careers.
Gemao's selection was not by chance. According to adidas
Philippines, he earned his invitation after delivering an impressive
performance at the adidas Tokyo Nations Camp earlier this year, reinforcing his
steady progression through the brand's international player development
program.
His growing reputation has also been fueled by another
significant achievement. Recently, Gemao received his first NCAA Division I
scholarship offer from Penn State, further highlighting his emergence as one of
the Philippines' most promising young basketball talents with legitimate
international potential.
Throughout the three-day event, participants were immersed
in a comprehensive player development environment. The program featured
competitive tournament games, structured team practices, specialized skill
development sessions, mentorship activities, and discussions with respected
figures from both the NBA and European basketball scene. The objective extended
beyond competition by equipping athletes with the knowledge, exposure, and
experience needed to compete at the highest levels of the sport.
adidas Philippines noted that this year's Eurocamp reflected
the company's Future in Progress initiative, a vision designed to nurture the
next generation of basketball stars through world-class training and
international exposure.
The event also showcased adidas Basketball's exclusive
Gelato Crazy Energy+ colorway, while players wore archive-inspired uniforms
created exclusively for the 2026 edition of Eurocamp.
Gemao's international resume has steadily expanded over the
past several years. He previously represented the Philippines at the FIBA U16
Asian Championship in 2022 before competing in the FIBA U18 Asia Cup SEABA
Qualifiers in 2024. His continued presence in elite international competitions
demonstrates not only his individual growth but also the increasing visibility
of Filipino basketball talent on the global stage.
With invitations to prestigious development camps and growing interest from NCAA Division I programs, Andy Gemao continues to build a foundation that could lead to even greater opportunities in international basketball.
