Makati has allocated a substantial ₱741.47 million to cover
medical services delivered under its flagship Yellow Card program, reinforcing
the local government’s sustained investment in public healthcare access.
The disbursement, which totals ₱741,473,673.34, was paid to
Makati Life, formerly Ospital ng Makati 2, in exchange for a broad range of
medical services extended to qualified residents. The figure underscores the
scale of the city’s subsidized healthcare system, which functions as a primary
safety net for thousands of beneficiaries.
Rather than treating healthcare as an occasional
intervention, the Yellow Card program operates as a continuous service
pipeline, ensuring residents receive consistent access to diagnostics,
treatment, and hospital care without the usual financial barriers. In effect,
the system acts like a prepaid health coverage model funded by the city
government, where public resources are directly translated into patient
services.
As Makati celebrates its 356th founding anniversary this
June, city leadership has reiterated its long-term direction of maintaining and
expanding accessible, high-quality healthcare. The administration emphasized
that sustaining premium medical services remains a central policy priority,
particularly through continued support for the Yellow Card program.
The latest disbursement reflects not only routine operational funding but also the city’s broader commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that public hospital services remain responsive to the needs of its residents.
