PRO-13 Arrests 130 Drug Suspects, Seizes PHP3.3 Million Worth of Illegal Drugs in January

 

The Police Regional Office-Caraga (PRO-13) reported the arrest of 130 drug suspects and the confiscation of PHP3.3 million worth of illegal drugs in January, data released on Friday showed.

Among the seized items were 488 grams of shabu and 1.91 grams of dried marijuana plants. Authorities conducted a total of 113 anti-illegal drug operations, with 92 carried out through buy-bust operations.

Of those arrested, 30 were classified as high-value individuals, while 100 were identified as street-level suspects.

“The campaign against illegal drugs remains one of the top priorities of PRO-13,” said PRO-13 spokesperson Maj. Jennifer Omiter. She credited the success of the operations to the support of local communities.

“We continue to strengthen our partnership with other law enforcement agencies and communities to carry on with our mission of ensuring the safety and security of the people in the region,” Omiter added.

In terms of drug seizures by area, the Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office (PPO) recorded the highest confiscation with 163.7 grams of shabu and 0.21 grams of marijuana, valued at PHP1.1 million. Surigao del Sur PPO followed with 118 grams of shabu worth PHP802,400, and the Butuan City Police Office seized 87.5 grams of shabu valued at PHP595,000.

Other police units also reported significant seizures: Agusan del Norte PPO confiscated 73.79 grams of shabu worth PHP501,772; Agusan del Sur PPO seized 44.4 grams of shabu and 1.7 grams of marijuana valued at PHP304,368; and Dinagat Islands PPO recovered 0.8 grams of shabu worth PHP5,440.
